Product Description

So I got clearance from my boss to hike the Inca Trail, overnight on an island, wander through the amazon, all because I was “searching” for a product to bring back from Peru.

Phew! Did I get lucky! The Peruvians along the trail had a product I could bring back home to the brass and not get fired.

From the Mountains of Peru, we present Maca root – it has been used by the indigenous to that region due to it’s claimed health benefits like improving skin complexion, increasing energy, and being rich in vitamins. Chalk full of amino acids, plant sterols, essential minerals, and essential fatty acids – our Organic Maca Root Powder gives off a malted taste, reminiscent of toasted oats and butterscotch – it is a flavor that can be used in a variety of recipes.

Though there are no serious known side effects of Maca, like any other supplement, it should not be taken in large amounts.

Our Organic Gelatinized Maca Root Powder is certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) and verified Gluten-Free by Celiac Spruce Association (CSA). Additionally, our Maca is Vegan Verified, Non-GMO & More, and Kosher.

What is Maca Root & Where Does It Come From?

Maca is a plant that grows in central Peru in the high plateaus of the Andes Mountains. It has been cultivated as a vegetable crop in this area for at least 3000 years. Maca is a relative of the radish and has an odor similar to butterscotch. Its root is used to make medicine.

People take maca for a variety of reasons.  It helps to address anemia, chronic fatigue. It enhances energy, stamina, memory and athletic performance. It is also used for female hormone imbalance, improving fertility and sexual dysfunction, and it also improves sexual desire in both men and women.

In foods, maca is eaten baked or roasted, prepared as a soup, used in soups, and used for making a fermented drink called maca chicha. It can easily be stirred into drinks, protein drinks, and smoothies.

In agriculture, it is used to increase fertility in livestock.

How does it work?

Maca root contains many chemicals, including fatty acids and amino acids. However, there isn’t enough information to know how maca might work.
